To see whether long streaks really are rare, we counted them in 25,133 real shoes collected from Evolution live baccarat at the Stake (stake.com) casino.

How column lengths split

Big road columns by length: what share of all columns had that length.

Of all big road columns, 51.8% were one cell long, 24.8% two cells and 12.0% three cells. Each extra cell roughly halves the share. That is the same shape you get when a coin keeps landing on the same side. Six cells was 1.4% and ten or more was 0.2%.

The chance of a long streak in a shoe

A single column reaching ten or more is only 0.2%. But a shoe forms 31.4 columns on average. That is more than thirty draws, so across a whole shoe the longest column averaged 6.2 cells, and 4.9% of shoes had a streak of ten or more. That is about one shoe in twenty. In a lobby showing many tables at once, it is natural for a long streak to be up somewhere at almost any moment.

Long chops too

We also counted chops, where banker and player alternate. The longest chop in a shoe averaged 4.5 in a row, and 6.8% of shoes had one of 8 or more. The longest we saw was 20. That too is something you will see about once in fifteen shoes.

What would actually show rigging

One long streak cannot show rigging. What matters is the overall rate. In 8,228 clean shoes, with every record showing odd hand timing removed, banker came out at 50.68%, exactly the eight-deck theoretical value. The spread of column lengths also has the shape probability predicts. The total of hundreds of thousands of hands is more honest evidence than any single scene that catches the eye.
