21. That is the minimum age for opening an online casino account in New Jersey. On a site licensed in Malta, the same box says 18.
Even the age box follows the rules of whoever issued the licence. The consent ticks, the confirmation email and the pop-up before the first deposit mostly come from rule text as well.
This post does not pick sites. It lays the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement rules (title 13, chapter 69O) next to the Malta Gaming Authority Player Protection Directive and lists, in order, what to check on screen while signing up.
Article 6(2) of the Malta directive says the terms must be available before registration too, and online they must sit no more than one click from the homepage (MGA Player Protection Directive).
So before filling in the form, check that the terms link opens.
If there is no link, or it only appears after sign-up, that alone is worth noting.

New Jersey rule 13:69O-1.3(b)5 requires the operator to verify that the patron is 21 or older and not self-excluded (New Jersey rule 13:69O-1.3). Under (b)8 the patron also acknowledges that the legal age is 21.
Article 26(3) of the Malta directive covers a minor who gets through the checks anyway. The operator returns the stakes and confiscates any winnings.
The patron file in (b)1 treats fields differently. Name, date of birth, residential address and the full or last four digits of the SSN (a passport number or similar for foreign patrons) are kept as verified values.
Email and phone number are kept as the patron reported them.
A PO box is not accepted as the address.
Type the name and birth date exactly as they appear on the ID. Once verified, the SSN or birth date can only be changed after the operator notifies the regulator ((r)).
(b)2 requires multi-source authentication of the patron's data before the account is created. (b)3 adds methods such as security questions, matching the phone number to the device, and checking that the ID is not counterfeit.
Multi-source authentication: matching what the patron typed against several separate outside data sources.
Security questions must be answered within three attempts and five minutes.
If they appear mid sign-up, it is better not to step away.
Under (b)6 to (b)8 the operator records acceptance of the terms, the patron's certification that the information is accurate, and the patron's promise not to let anyone else use the account.
The terms themselves have required content. 13:69O-1.2(l) lists consent to age and identity checks, consent to monitoring and recording of wagering communications and location data, the privacy policy, and the right to set limits and self-exclude (New Jersey rule 13:69O-1.2).
A single tick on the terms can include consent to location recording. The same subsection also puts play by bots among the prohibited uses in the terms.
Subsection (c) allows a patron only one account per internet gaming intermediary.
That account cannot be transferred and belongs only to the person who opened it.
The Malta directive separately describes cases where a brand allows several accounts, and then any limit the player sets applies across all of them (Article 14(5)). Account-count rules across documents are compared in baccarat site multiple accounts.
Article 14(3) of the Malta directive says that after registration, and at the latest before the first deposit, the player must be asked whether to set a deposit or wagering limit. Article 5 also requires showing where the responsible gaming tools are at the same point.
A stricter limit takes effect immediately, while loosening or removing one only takes effect after 24 hours (Article 14(7) and (8)). Setting each type of limit is covered in baccarat site limit settings.
New Jersey (b)9 requires the operator to tell the patron by email or regular mail that the account has been opened. If an opening notice arrives from a site never signed up to, contact that site right away. Someone may have opened an account with the same details.

Article 29(1) of the Malta directive says a withdrawal should be sent within five working days of the request where practicable. Article 29(3) lets the operator first take the time needed for identity and anti-money-laundering checks.
New Jersey (m) requires re-verification when there is reasonable suspicion that the patron's identity has been compromised. Under (e), five failed deposit attempts in a row within 10 minutes temporarily block the account.

The New Jersey rules bind operators permitted in New Jersey, and the Malta directive binds MGA licensees. On a site under another licence, that site's own terms are the reference.
In Korea, Article 246 of the Criminal Act makes gambling punishable (Korea Law Information Center). Anyone who finds it hard to stay in control can call the Korea Center on Gambling Problems on 1336.
A.The New Jersey rules keep these two as values the patron reported. The verified fields are name, date of birth, address and SSN.
A.The Malta directive only requires asking before the first deposit, not setting one. Limits must stay available at any time after registration.
A.Under the Malta directive, 24 hours after the operator receives the request. Making a limit stricter applies immediately.
Hiddenpick is a Windows program that keeps on its server the betting rules that pick owners do not make public, and runs them as they are on the PC of the person who received them through a referral code.
