On a VPS price list for a trading bot, the same amount of memory comes in two rows, one for Linux and one for Windows, at different prices. Which row should you read?
The program you plan to run decides. The figures below are worked out directly from the public AWS Lightsail price list.
Cloud server (VPS): a share of a computer in a data center, rented and used remotely as a virtual machine.
One is the operating system. A program that runs on Linux, such as a Python script, can go on Linux. A program that only runs on Windows leaves no choice but a Windows server.
The other is memory. A program that keeps a browser open alongside it uses a lot.
Here are the monthly prices of the Lightsail bundles with a public IPv4 address, by memory.

As memory grows, the gap between Windows and Linux widens from $7 to $30. On the price list, the Windows row climbs more steeply than the Linux row with each step up in memory.
Over a year, the $20 gap at 4 GB becomes $240. At an assumed 1,400 won to the dollar, that is about 336,000 won.
In won, 4 GB on Linux comes to about 33,600 won a month and 4 GB on Windows to about 61,600 won (same assumed rate).
The bundles also come with a monthly data transfer allowance. A footnote says the Mumbai, Sydney, Jakarta, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo regions include only half the listed transfer. Only outbound transfer beyond the allowance is charged extra.
So before choosing a server, check whether the program runs on Linux. If it only runs on Windows, taking no more memory than it needs is the way to keep the bill down.
Some cases don't need 24 hours at all. Korean stocks trade in a regular session from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, so six and a half hours a day is enough.

Assuming the PC draws 100 W and there are 21 trading days, that is 100 × 6.5 × 21 ÷ 1,000 = 13.65 kWh. Depending on which progressive tier of the household bill it lands in, the energy charge runs from about 1,638 won (the 120 won tier) to about 4,195 won (the 307.3 won tier).
A home PC on only during market hours costs under 5,000 won a month in energy charges alone. The actual bill adds items such as the climate and environment charge and VAT.
A market that runs around the clock, such as crypto, is a different calculation. The power bill for a PC left on all month is broken down by tier in the computer side hustle post.
A home PC stops for as long as a Windows update restart, a power cut or a router drop lasts.
A server has fewer of those, but installing and checking logs all happen remotely. Other things to check before switching on a Python trading bot are in the Python stock trading bot post.

Before renting a trading bot server
Hiddenpick is a Windows program that keeps on its server the betting rules that pick owners do not make public, and runs them as they are on the PC of the person who received them through a referral code. It currently runs on Evolution live baccarat at Stake (stake.com). What runs on the user's PC and what stays on the server is in the baccarat bot guide. We are recruiting national pickster representatives, and those selected receive benefits worth $12,000, a one-year pass (apply at hiddenpick.my/pickster).
