Ads for baccarat AI prediction software love an accuracy figure: 60%, sometimes 65%. In a game like Evolution live baccarat at the Stake (stake.com) casino, where Banker and Player land close to half each, what does that number really tell you? We calculated how often plain guessing produces the same record.
Leave ties out and guess each side with even odds. The chance of hitting 60% or better depends on the number of hands.
20 hands 25.2% 50 hands 10.1% 100 hands 2.8% 300 hands 0.03%
Over 20 hands, one guesser in four hits 60% with no skill at all. Over 100 hands it is still about one in thirty-five. Records used in ads are usually the best stretch picked after the fact, which makes them easier still to produce.
To separate a real edge from guessing you need a lot of hands. Roughly:
Claim of 60% about 100 hands Claim of 55% about 380 hands Claim of 52% about 2,400 hands
The smaller the claimed edge, the more hands you need. And the record has to come from hands the tool had never seen when it was built, not from the stretch it was tuned on.
Know the baseline too. Betting Banker every time wins 50.68% of non-tie hands in theory, and it was 50.68% in the clean shoes we collected. Banker wins pay 5% commission, so a 50.7% hit rate still loses money. Accuracy on its own says nothing about profit.
How many hands is the record? Were those hands played after the tool was built? What is the result after commission? If those three do not come with numbers, the accuracy figure is closer to ad copy than evidence.
Chance of 60%+ by guessing 20 hands 25% · 100 hands 2.8% · 300 hands 0.03% Hands needed to tell apart 60% -> 100 · 55% -> 380 · 52% -> 2,400 Baseline Banker only 50.68% (loses after commission)
