If Banker has won four in a row, is a fifth Banker more likely? If the sides have alternated six times, is a seventh switch more likely?
What players call the flow of a baccarat shoe comes down to these two things: streaks, where the same side keeps winning, and chops, where Banker and Player take turns. We worked out the coin-flip math for whether either one carries on, then set it next to counts from 24,420 real collected shoes.
Ties are left out and only Banker and Player are counted. On the big road, a tie does not break a streak either.
Same-side rate: the chance a hand matches the one before. Higher means longer streaks, lower means more chops.
If hands do not affect each other, the math is short. With the clean-shoe Banker rate of 50.68%:
In the real shoes, a hand went to the same side as the one before in 50.005% of 1,455,235 cases. Streak and chop split almost exactly in half, matching the math to two decimal places.
The data is clean shoes collected from September 9 to October 10, 2026 at 73 tables of six types. Only shoes recorded to the end, with no hands logged less than 12 seconds apart, were kept.
An even split on average could still hide a change after long streaks. So each streak length was counted separately.
In the coin-flip model the answer does not depend on length. A Banker streak continues 50.68% of the time at any length and a Player streak 49.32%. Combined, that is about 50%.

A one-hand streak grew to two 49.94% of the time. After 3 it was 50.06%, after 5 it was 50.22%, after 7 it was 50.23%.
After 8 or more it was slightly lower, at 49.52%. It helps to work out how much a number like this can wobble.
With around 740,000 cases, as after a one-hand streak, the range narrows to 0.12 points. The 49.94% there still sits inside it.
Splitting Banker and Player streaks gives the same picture. Banker streaks moved between 50.14 and 51.45% and Player streaks between 48.11 and 49.48%, with no link to length. The highest, 51.45% after a six-hand Banker streak, is inside its noise range of about 0.94 points with 11,000 cases.
A longer streak was neither more likely to continue nor due to break. Banker streaks run on a little more often only because Banker comes up 50.68% of the time to begin with.
How streak lengths are spread and how long the longest streak in a shoe gets are counted in our post on long baccarat streaks. This post only asks whether a streak carries on to the next hand.
Chops were counted the same way: grouped by how many switches in a row came just before, then checked for whether the next hand switched again.
The math gives 49.32% after a Banker and 50.68% after a Player, so about 50% when mixed.
In the shoes, it was 50.11% after one switch, 50.09% after three and 50.36% after five. The 48.84% after seven and 48.88% after eight or more come from around 5,000 cases each, inside the noise.
A long chop did not make the next switch more likely.

Beyond single hands, we looked at each shoe as a whole. A shoe with 40% or fewer switches counts as streaky, and one with 60% or more as choppy.
Flipping a coin the same number of times also produces such shoes now and then, so the math sits next to the real counts.

Streaky shoes were 6.55% (math 6.53%) and choppy shoes 6.54% (math 6.49%). The average shoe had 30.79 runs, the same as the math.
The 3,702 shoes with a choppy first half switched 49.97% of the time in the second half. The 3,184 shoes with a streaky first half switched 49.92% of the time in the second half.
The flow in the first half of a shoe said nothing about the flow in the second half. What the 32 five-hand shapes say about the next hand is in our baccarat pattern recognition post.

Hiddenpick is a Windows program that keeps on its server the betting rules that pick owners do not make public, and runs them as they are on the PC of the person who received them through a referral code. It currently runs on Evolution live baccarat at Stake (stake.com). Whether the flow can predict the next hand is covered with real shoe numbers in the baccarat prediction guide. We are recruiting national pickster representatives, and those selected receive benefits worth $12,000, a one-year pass (apply at hiddenpick.my/pickster).
