Most players lose their head at about the same point. The first two or three losses are easy to laugh off. Around the fifth, the stake goes up once. By the eighth, the plan you started with is gone. We counted how often losing streaks actually happen in 12,686 clean shoes (762,000 hands without ties) collected from Evolution live baccarat at the Stake (stake.com) casino.
Betting Banker every hand (ties removed) 5 or more in a row once every 70 hands 8 or more once every 633 hands 10 or more once every 2,731 hands Longest seen 16 in a row
If you play 300 hands a day, you will sit through a five hand losing streak about four times a day and an eight hand one every two or three days. One shoe in five (19.3%) contains a run of eight or more. It is not rare. Play long enough and you will go through it.
The streak itself does less damage than what people do during it. The usual order: push one step past the planned limit, switch sides because "it has to turn now", and finally put the rest on one hand. A long run makes people suspect the game is rigged. How often long runs show up in real shoes is counted in our are long streaks rigged post.
Staying calm in the middle of a streak is hard. Write three things down while your head is clear: how many steps you will go, how much you will lose before you stop for the day, and when you will look again after stopping. The money each step needs is in the martingale calculator.
Keeping the written rule is the hard part. Anyone wobbles at sixteen losses.
