How to make 3000 a month from home, counted in hours and jobs: Korea's version of the question with the 2026 minimum wage, the 3.3% withholding and health insurance

How many hours a day, or how many jobs a month, does it take to make 3,000 a month from home?
In Korea the same question is asked in won: "300 a month", meaning three million won, is one of the phrases that follows "making money at home" in Naver autocomplete.
This post answers that Korean version. Every figure below is in won and comes from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the National Tax Service or the National Health Insurance Service. Values that differ from person to person, such as the rate per job, are marked as assumptions.
1.What do the top videos show first?
On 26 October 2026, the top five YouTube results for the Korean search had 1,156,916 views between them. Two of the five put 30 million won a month in the title.
None of the titles said how many hours a day the work took.
So this post starts with the hours.
2.How many hours, and how many jobs, is 3 million won?
How many hours at the minimum wage?
Korea's 2026 minimum wage is 10,320 won an hour. The ministry put the monthly equivalent at 2,156,880 won, based on 40 hours a week or 209 hours a month (Ministry of Employment and Labor).
3,000,000 won divided by 10,320 won is about 290.7 hours.
- No day off in 30 days: about 9.7 hours a day
- Vs the 209-hour month: about 81.7 hours more
- Vs the monthly figure: 843,120 won short
At the minimum wage, 3 million won a month means more than 290 hours of work. To get there in fewer hours, each hour has to bring in more than 10,320 won.
How much has to be billed if 3.3% is withheld?
Freelance work in Korea is often paid with 3.3% taken off first: 3% business income tax plus 0.3% local income tax (National Tax Service).
For 3,000,000 won to land in the account, the amount before withholding has to be 3,102,379 won. That is 3 million divided by 0.967, and the withheld part is 102,379 won.
How many jobs at a fixed rate?
Piecework comes with the rate set first. Below, the rate is assumed and the count is what it takes to reach 3,102,379 won.
- 10,000 won (assumed): 311 jobs, about 10.4 a day
- 30,000 won (assumed): 104 jobs, about 3.5 a day
- 100,000 won (assumed): 32 jobs, about 1.1 a day
The count alone does not give an hourly figure. To beat the minimum wage, a 10,000 won job has to be done in 58 minutes, a 30,000 won job in 2 hours 54 minutes, and a 100,000 won job in 9 hours 41 minutes.
A high rate still falls below the minimum wage if each job takes too long. Writing down the start and finish times of the last few jobs makes this check quick.
3.What about health insurance on a side job next to a salary?
An employee whose income outside the salary passes 20 million won a year pays a separate premium on it. The base is (annual non-salary income - 20 million won) / 12, times an income rate that is 100% for business income, and the employee pays all of it (NHIS).
3 million won a month for a year is 36 million won. Assuming no expenses at all, the monthly base is 1,333,333 won.
At the 2026 rate of 7.19% (Ministry of Health and Welfare), about 95,867 won a month is added on top of the salary premium. Long-term care insurance comes on top of that.
The timing is set by decree: November and December premiums use the previous year's income, January to October the year before that (Enforcement Decree Art. 41). Money earned in 2026 shows up from the November 2027 premium.
4.Working only from home, does dependant status stay?
Someone listed as a dependant on a family member's health insurance faces two lines. Total income has to stay at 20 million won a year or less, and business income without a business registration at 5 million won a year or less (NHIS dependant rules).
At 3 million won a month, two months make 6 million won, already past the 5 million won line.
With a business registration, the 5 million won allowance does not apply.
5.If 3.3% was withheld, is there nothing to do in May?
The 3.3% is tax paid in advance.
Business income is filed as global income tax from 1 to 31 May of the next year (filing deadlines). The National Tax Service says no refund is paid without filing on time.
The 3.3% withheld over a year of 3 million won months comes to about 1.23 million won (calculated). Depending on expenses and deductions, part of it may come back, or more may be due.
