Baccarat Score Sheet: The Columns on One Page and What Each One Means

Numbers to see first

  • A baccarat score sheet needs eight columns: hand, result, bet on, amount, hand P/L, running total, time, note
  • In the shoes we collected, a shoe ran 67 hands on average and 90 at most
  • At speed tables the median gap between hands was 26 seconds

1.What a baccarat score sheet is

Baccarat score sheet: one row per hand, with the result, your bet and its profit or loss side by side.

People also call it a baccarat scorecard or tracker. The printable sheets that come up first in search are mostly road grids: big road, bead plate and the derived roads. Those grids show what came out and nothing else.

They don't show which side you backed or how much of your bankroll is left. A score sheet fills that gap. Reading the roads themselves is covered in how to read the bead plate and big road.

2.What each column means

One row is one hand. Eight columns are enough.

  • Hand: which hand of this shoe it is. Back to 1 when a new shoe starts
  • Result: what came out. Player P, Banker B, Tie T
  • Bet on: the side you put chips on. Write "none" when you sat out
  • Amount: the money actually on the table that hand
  • Hand P/L: what that one hand added or took away
  • Running total: every hand P/L since you sat down, added up
  • Time: when the hand ended, to the minute
  • Note: table name, table changes, why you stopped

Result and bet side get separate columns because of the money. A B in the result column is a win if you were on Banker and a loss if you were on Player.

Ties need room too.

In the 25,133 shoes we collected, ties were 9.3% of all hands, 6.23 per shoe on average. That is a T roughly once every eleven hands.

Hand P/L follows the payout rules. A Player win pays even money, and a Banker win pays 95% of the stake because the house takes a 5% commission on winning Banker bets (The Venetian, how to play baccarat).

On a tie, Player and Banker bets push and the stake comes back (Cache Creek on ties in baccarat). That row's hand P/L is 0.

Four rows filled in on the assumption of $10 a hand. The third row is a tie, so its hand P/L is 0.
▲ Four rows filled in on the assumption of $10 a hand. The third row is a tie, so its hand P/L is 0.

The running total shows money a win count hides. In the example you have won one hand and lost one after two rows, yet the running total is -$0.50. That is the 5% commission taken from the Banker win.

Even with as many wins as losses, the running total does not have to be zero. A road that only records who won never shows this.

The time column is for looking back. What time you sat down, how many hands you played and when the running total fell hardest can only be counted if the times are there. If you play several shoes in a row, also note when each new shoe started.

Start the note column with the table name. Payout rules can differ from table to table (Evolution, No Commission Baccarat).

At No Commission tables a Banker win on 6 pays half the stake. Hand P/L changes, so write the table name down.

3.How big one page should be: 67 rows, 90 to be safe

Shoe length decides how far down the hand column must run. Across 25,133 shoes we collected between September 9 and 24, 2026, a shoe averaged 67 hands. More than eight in ten ended between 63 and 71 hands, and the longest ran to 90.

All 253 shoes that went past 78 hands came from one table, Always 9 Baccarat. Leave that table out and the longest shoe was 78 hands.

To fit a shoe from any table on one page, give it 90 rows.

One hand is one row. Sized for the longest shoe, a whole shoe ends on a single page.
▲ One hand is one row. Sized for the longest shoe, a whole shoe ends on a single page.

In a spreadsheet, add one totals row under the 90. Hands bet, hands won, ties and the final running total are enough to review a shoe at a glance.

Autocomplete for these searches also offers phrases such as "baccarat pattern reading" and "is there a pattern in baccarat". A score sheet records hands already played, so this one has no column for the next hand.

4.Speed tables at 26 seconds: what you can write by hand

In the hands we recorded, the median gap between hands at speed tables was 26 seconds. That is close to the 27-second round the game maker gives on its product page (Evolution, Speed Baccarat).

That is a tight window to read the result, fill eight columns and get the next chips down. A speed shoe took a median 31.3 minutes from first hand to last, and the routine repeats about 67 times in that span.

While hands are running, write only the first three columns. Fill in the two P/L columns after the shoe.
▲ While hands are running, write only the first three columns. Fill in the two P/L columns after the shoe.

So split the columns in two when writing by hand. During play, write the result, the side and the amount, then work out hand P/L and the running total once the shoe ends.

If those three columns are right, the rest can be rebuilt later from the payout rules. Time only needs writing at the first and last hand of the shoe. With hand numbers in place, the times in between can be estimated.

While the result is being checked on screen, the betting window for the next hand is already running.

Tables that are not speed tables had a median gap of 37 seconds and a median shoe of 45.0 minutes, which leaves a little more room.

5.In three lines

  • Keep result and bet side in separate columns, or hand P/L comes out wrong
  • Size one page for the longest shoe: 90 rows
  • At speed tables, write three columns during play and the P/L after the shoe
