Casino cashback at 10% and rakeback at 0.5%: what actually comes back after 1,000 baccarat bets of $10, worked out case by case

64.6%. That is the share of 5,748 blocks of 1,000 banker bets, cut from real collected shoes, that ended in a loss. The other 35.4% ended in profit.

That split matters for casino cashback. Cashback based on losses pays nothing for a block that ends in profit. Rakeback, based on the amount bet, pays either way.

Every amount below is an assumption: $10 a bet on banker, 1,000 bets (ties excluded), 10% cashback, 0.5% rakeback. The actual rates and conditions are whatever a site's terms say.

1.What is each one based on?

Cashback: a share of net losses over a set period (losses minus wins) paid back. Zero if the period ends in profit.
Rakeback: a share of the total amount bet (turnover) paid back. It builds up whatever the result.

The idea of turnover, and how a martingale inflates it, is covered in rolling calculation. Here the only question is how much of the house edge the money paid back covers.

There are two reference points. In 8-deck theory, banker loses 1.06% per bet and player 1.24%. In clean shoes we collected, banker won 50.68% of decisions, an expected loss of 1.15% per banker bet.

2.With 1,000 bets of $10, how much actually comes back?

1,000 bets of $10 is $10,000 of turnover. At 1.15%, the expected loss is $115.

We also counted real blocks. Clean shoes from 62 speed baccarat tables, 95,307 in all, were joined per table in time order and cut every 1,000 bets. That gave 5,748 blocks, with an average result of -12.02 units (about -$120).

1 unit = $10, 10% cashback and 0.5% rakeback are assumptions. Block results were counted in real collected shoes.

With 10% cashback on losses

The losing blocks lost 29.67 units on average. Counting winning blocks as zero, the base for cashback averages 19.18 units per block.

At 10%, that pays back $19.18 per block on average, about 16% of the $120 average loss. The average result left is -10.10 units.

It is more than 10% of the $120 average loss ($12) because winning blocks drop out. Only losing blocks are paid on, so the base is bigger than the average loss.

With 0.5% rakeback

0.5% of $10,000 turnover is $50, whatever the result. The average result becomes -7.02 units.

For rakeback to cover the house edge, the rate has to beat 1.06~1.15% on banker or 1.24% on player. The same sum done for cashback on 1,000-bet blocks needs a rate of about 63%.

Does daily settlement differ from weekly?

The shorter the period, the less winning days cancel losing days. Cutting every 200 bets (assumed to be a day) gave 28,862 blocks, and the loss-only base scaled to 1,000 bets was 34.1 units.

Treat 1,000 bets as a week and the gap is plain. The same 10% cashback pays $34.10 if settled daily and $19.18 if settled weekly.

Against $10,000 of turnover that is 0.34% and 0.19%, both short of the 1.06~1.24% house edge. That is why the settlement period is the first line to find in the terms.

Money paid back turned into a % of turnover, next to the house edge. The rates and 200 bets a day are assumptions.

3.What if the cashback arrives as bonus money?

The UK Gambling Commission glossary defines a bonus as funds the operator adds to a consumer's account from which the consumer can place wagers (glossary). In the same glossary, a wagering requirement is a requirement to place wagers of a set total before funds become withdrawable.

The same definition leaves out a requirement to wager a bonus once when the winnings can be withdrawn straight away. Since 19 January 2026, the Commission caps wagering on incentives such as bonuses at 10 times (Commission decision).

Put a 10x condition on $19.18 of cashback and $191.80 has to be bet, at an expected cost of about $2.21. If baccarat counts at 10% (assumed), $1,918 has to be bet and the expected cost is about $22.06, more than the cashback itself.

The settlement period, the form of payment and the contribution rate decide the real amount before the headline rate does.

4.How to read an ad that promises to protect losses

Standard 2.06 of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) internet gaming standards says an offer must not be described as risk-free if the player needs to incur any loss or risk their own money. It also says all material conditions must be shown when the offer is first presented (AGCO standards).

Cashback on losses only exists after money has been lost. Gambling law differs by country, and in Korea Article 246 of the Criminal Act makes gambling an offence (Criminal Act Article 246); these sums assume the law where the reader lives allows it.

What to find in cashback and rakeback terms

  • Base: losses, or amount bet
  • Period: whether it is totalled daily, weekly or monthly
  • Payment: cash, or a bonus with wagering attached
  • Contribution: what % of a baccarat bet counts
  • Cap: the most it pays back at once
  • Comparison: the rate set against the 1.06~1.24% edge
