Three lines first
Search for "baccarat machine" and three things come up mixed together: electronic tables on a casino floor, shufflers that mix the cards, and computer baccarat on a screen.
They only share a name. The way each one decides a hand and the shape of a round are different, so they are taken one at a time here.

One question separates them: does a real card decide this hand, or a random number?
Electronic tables and shufflers are on the card side. Only computer baccarat is on the random number side.
At Kangwon Land in Korea, what players call a "baccarat machine" is usually an electronic table game. Instead of placing chips on the felt, each player bets on a screen in front of them.
The number of seats is the biggest difference.
IBK Investment & Securities published a table built from Kangwon Land data as of the end of 2019 (May 2022 report). Regular baccarat ran on 77 tables with 591 seats.
That is 7 or 9 seats per table.

Electronic baccarat had 3 tables with 112 seats. One electronic baccarat game had 37 seats, so more than four times as many people bet on the same hand as at a regular table.
In the same report, electronic table games of all kinds, baccarat, blackjack, roulette and sic bo together, came to 7 tables and 272 seats. That is 7 of the 180 tables in the general area.
What changes at an electronic table is the hand that places the bet. The spot where chips were pushed becomes a touch screen.
If cards decide the hand, the odds are the same as at a regular table even with a screen in front of each seat. What changes is how many people share a hand and how easy it is to find a seat.
Kangwon Land publishes its monthly card use by game as open data (Korea public data portal). It is a record that real cards are used up.
The second thing is the shuffler. It is the box seen in videos where a stack of cards goes in and comes out mixed.
A shuffler only mixes. Which card lands in which hand is decided by the cards drawn from the shoe in their mixed order.
Live baccarat tables work the same way. Evolution's rules say the game is run by a dealer with eight 52-card decks.

We measured the length of one shoe at live tables with the shoes we collected: 82,768 clean shoes at 96 tables, started from 9 September to 15 October 2026.
The median shoe ran 67 hands, and eight in ten ran between 63 and 71. The median time from first hand to last was 32 minutes. Why shoe lengths come out so even is in the how many hands in one shoe post.
The third is computer baccarat, with no dealer and no shoe. A random number generator (RNG) decides the cards each hand.
With no shoe, there is no such thing as "hand number 40 of this shoe". How it differs from live tables is in the live baccarat sites post.
Gambling law depends on where the player lives. In Korea, for example, Article 246 of the Criminal Act makes gambling punishable outside licensed venues such as Kangwon Land.
Electronic tables and shufflers are machines that use cards, and only computer baccarat does without them.
Hiddenpick is a Windows program that keeps on its server the betting rules that pick owners do not make public, and runs them as they are on the PC of the person who received them through a referral code. It currently runs on Evolution live baccarat at Stake (stake.com). Shoe data from live tables dealt with real cards is in the baccarat prediction guide. We are recruiting national pickster representatives, and those selected receive benefits worth $12,000, a one-year pass (apply at hiddenpick.my/pickster).
